1. users will not see the above in the source...its only the html/xml that ever gets sent to the browser...if a user can access the source of the page on the server, you got bigger problems then people be able to access the db

2. the best way to hide the code is to place it in an include file and store that file off of the main web root and use the php to access that file

this way you have hidden the file
only one file to maintain to affect db transactions
simpler to code a new page --> include ("dbconn.php");
